A Letcher County man has been indicted by a Pike County grand jury for allegedly stealing an excavator from the City of Pikeville in November. Jim Riley Fields of Jeremiah faces a felony theft charge which carries a potential prison sentence of 10 years. The Appalachian News Express reports the Pike County Commonwealth’s Attorney heaped high praise on the Pikeville police officers who tracked the excavator’s path and scoured surveillance video as they narrowed the list of suspects.
