Renowned Letcher County photographer Malcolm J. Wilson has won the 2024 East Kentucky Leadership Award for Media and Technology. Wilson tells WYMT his life’s goal has been to tell the truth of the Appalachian people and he worked with his late wife Jennifer on the internationally known project “Humans of Central Appalachia.” He then turned to teaching and he and his interns were essential in capturing images and stories from the July 2022 flood. The East Kentucky Leadership Conference is this week in Corbin.
