A Letcher County woman is at a North Carolina burn center following a fire at her home on Monday. The Mountain Eagle reports the woman from Deane, who is confined to an electric lift chair, had to be flown to the hospital after something caused the chair to catch on fire. Her husband also suffered severe burns while pulling her out of the chair. Colson Volunteer Fire Department Chief Brian Hall tells the paper the cause is still under investigation but there were several extension cords around the lift chair.
