There are two Letcher Volunteer Fire Department trucks once again responding to calls
in the county, nearly two months after Letcher Emergency Medical Services had to
cease operations due to money problems.
Chief Wallace “Spanky” Bolling tells the Mountain Eagle they got some grants and donations that helped to pay for insurance for a year in advance which allows the two trucks to operate.
He says their other two trucks in the Campbells Branch and Blackey substations have to remain idle for now.
