An experimental treatment for drug addiction will be tested in Letcher County thanks to the state’s opioid lawsuit settlement money. The Mountain Eagle reports the Letcher Fiscal Court has approved $125,000 for 3 years of patient trials of the Neural Electrical Treatment Device which other trials have shown to help with withdrawal symptoms. Knott and Perry are also reportedly participating in the trials. In addition, the paper reports, the Court also voted to allocate $25,000 a year for two years to establish the HEAL Letcher County Recovery Hub to offer therapy for those battling addiction.
