Melinda Newman, age 59, of Eolia, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington.
She is survived by her husband: Anthony Newman; 3 children: William Newman, Zackary Newman and Angel Newman all of Eolia; 1 brother: David Logan of Colson; 5 sisters: Emma Stephenson and Louise Dennison both of Cincinnati, Deloris Amburgey, Evelyn Combs and Vonda Lowe all of Colson; 7 grandchildren: Cameron, Brantley, Parker, Isabella, Haisley, Caroline and Timothy.
Services for Melinda Newman will be held at a later date.
The Letcher Funeral Home of Whitesburg is in charge of the arrangements.

Neil Tackett, age 60, of Virgie, passed away Sunday December 14, 2025, at the UK Medical Center in Lexington.
He is survived by his wife: Sabrina Tackett; one son: Dylan Tackett of Owingsville; one daughter: Madison Tackett of Virgie; three brothers: Quinn Tackett of Virgie, Kenneth Tackett of Jenkins and Greg Tackett of Virgie, and one grandchild; Aurora Tackett.
Funeral services for Neil Tackett will be held at 1:00pm this afternoon, Friday, December 19, 2025 at the Hall and Jones Funeral Home at Virgie with Arnold Thornsberry and Terry Justice officiating.
Burial will follow in the Tackett and Mullins Cemetery in Jenkins.

Franklin Cornett, age 71, of Delphia, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at his residence.
He is survived by Three Daughters: Kay Banks of Delphia, Melissa Trent of Delphia & Kimberly Shepherd of Cornettsville; One Brother: Mick Cornett of Danville, Ten Grandchildren and Five Great-Grandchildren.
A graveside service and burial for Franklin Cornett will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, December 20, 2025 at the Beechfork Cemetery at Slemp.

Virgie Lou Raleigh Scott
Virgie Lou Raleigh Scott, age 85, of Cumberland, formerly of Letcher County, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
She is survived by one son: Dennis Delane Scott of Floyd County; one daughter: Teresa Klein of Benham; two sisters: Lillie Dixon of Ohio and Jean Sturgill of Indiana; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren with one on the way along with six great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00pm Sunday, December 21, 2025, at the Tri City Funeral Home at Benham.
Funeral services for Virgie Lou Raleigh Scott will be held at 12:00 noon, Monday, December 22, 2025, at the Tri City Funeral Home at Benham the Rod Raleigh officiating.
Burial will follow in the D.L. Creech Cemetery.
