Martha Jane Sexton Ison

Martha Jane Sexton Ison, age 85, of Blackey, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at her residence. 

She is survived by her husband: Franklin Ison; 2 sons: Donnie Ray Hall and Kenneth Wayne Adams; 2 step children: Tammy Bolen and Michael Ison; 3 brothers: Walter Sexton, Garland Sexton, and Bill Sexton; 13 grandchildren: 8 great grandchildren and special sister-in-law: Hazel Ison.

Visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 10:00pm this evening, Friday, September 26, 2025, at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral Services for Martha Jane Sexton Ison will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel with Roger Bolen and others officiating. 

Burial will follow in the Hampton Cemetery at Letcher.

The Letcher Funeral Home of Whitesburg is in charge of the arrangements.

Johnny Ray McFall

Johnny Ray McFall, age 65, of Isom, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard.

He is survived by his wife: Brenda Howard of Neon; two daughters: Tosha Howard Reed of Isom and Amanda LeDuke of Wise, Virginia; two brothers: Jesse McFall of Payne Gap and Leland McFall of Florida; seven sisters: Judy Meeks of McRoberts, Mildred Taylor of Seco, Nadine McFall of Florida, Eleanor Hall of Goose Creek, Delphia Sexton of Isom, Delana Yonts of Colson, and Sally McFall of Jenkins along with six grandchildren, Preston, Payton, Kennedy, Journey, Jake and Mackenzie.

Visitation will be after 5:00pm this evening, Friday September 26, 2024 at the New Freedom Worship Center at Dunham.  

Funeral services for Johnny Ray McFall will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, September 27, 2025 at the New Freedom Worship Center at Dunham.

Burial will follow in the Whitaker Cemetery at Seco.

The Everidge Funeral Home of Whitesburg is in charge of the arrangements.

Teddy Lloyd Collins

Teddy Lloyd Collins, age 57, of Thornton, passed away Saturday, September 20, 2025 at the Hazard ARH. 

He is survived his wife: Kendra Pegeen Adams Collins; nephew: Kalin Sexton; niece: Mallory Hensley; great nephews: Isaac Michael, Peter James and Jacob Michael Billick; 1 brother: Timothy Collins; 1 sister-in-law: Damaris Sexton; special family: Brett & Tina Holland; special friends: Steve Bentley and Dalton Moore.

A Celebration of Life service for Teddy Lloyd Collins will be held at a later date.

John Dishman Combs Jr.

John Dishman Combs Jr., age 82, of Isom, passed away Monday, September 22, 2025 at his residence. 

He is survived by 1 son: Steven Combs of Junction City; 1 daughter: Janet Hall of Isom; 3 brothers: Edmond Combs, Ernest Combs and Troy Combs; 1 sister: Letta Mae Hammonds along with a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services for John Dishman Combs Jr. will be held at 12:00 Noon today, Friday, September 26, 2025 at the Sandlick House of Prayer with Buddy Collins officiating. 

Burial will follow in the Combs Cemetery at Isom.

Waynard Ray Hughes

Waynard Ray Hughes, age 77, of Somerset, formerly of Benham, passed away Monday, September 22, 2025

He is survived by his children: Charles Hughes of Hazard, Hunter Hughes of Somerset and Justin Fitzpatrick of Whitesburg; a brother: William Hughes of South Carolina; two sisters, Dorothy Elliott and Patricia Huffman both of South Carolina; grandchildren, Landon Hughes of Partridge; Justice, Justin, Arionna, and Porsha Fitzpatrick, all of Whitesburg.

Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 2:00pm Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the Tri City Funeral Home at Benham.

A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:00pm on Saturday at the Tri City Funeral Home at Benham with Jonathan Adams officiating. 

The Harlan County Honor Guard will perform military honors at the Tri City Funeral Home.

William “Joel” Day

William “Joel” Day, age 71, of Georgetown, Kentucky, formerly of Cumberland, passed away on September 23, 2025. 

He is survived by wife: Brenda Day; two children, Jeremy Day and Jessica Day Bush; 6 grandchildren; siblings: Judy Lusk, Anita Miller and Mark “Bo” Day.

A graveside celebration of life for William “Joel” Day will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at the Charlie Maggard Cemetery at Blair, KY followed by Masonic rites from the Fields Lodge. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Masonic Homes of Kentucky or the Dravet Syndrome foundation.
