Randy Joe Morgan

Randy Joe Morgan, age 69, of Isom passed away on Thursday August 28, 2025 at his residence.

He is survived by his wife: Mary Ann Morgan; 1 daughter: Ashlee Nicole Frazier; 1 son: Gerrard Clark; 1 grandson: Nixon Haze Frazier; 2 sisters: Freda Howard and Deborah Dixon; brother in law: Lee Roy Combs; nieces: Jessie Lee Perry, Brandi Meek, Jennifer Shepherd; nephew: Justin Lee Combs; special friends: Joe and Ian Adams, Nigel Nichols, Tommy Gibson, Orville Collins, Robert Halcomb, Craig Dixon, Craig Bailey, Barry Wright, Henry Madden, Verna Adams, and special cousin: Merle Begley.

Visitation will be from 6:00-10:00pm on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at the Letcher Independent Baptist Church.

Funeral Services for Randy Joe Morgan will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, September 1, 2025, at the Letcher Independent Baptist Church with Bill Jones officiating. 

Burial will follow in the W.M. Gibson Cemetery at Isom.

Flara Jane “Janie” Finley

Flara Jane “Janie” Finley, age 74, of Sergent, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at her residence. 

She is survived by 1 son: Philip Thomas of Sergent; 1 daughter: Rachelle Thomas of Kingscreek; 3 brothers: Arius Holbrook Jr. of Sergent, Darrell Holbrook of Dunham and Mitchell Holbrook of Mayking; 6 grandchildren: Paul Andrew, Jana Marie, Kristen, Larry III, Carolyn and Dillon; 2 god children: Kenna Mae and Jayda. 

Funeral services for Flara Jane “Janie” Finley will be held at 11:00am this morning, Saturday, August 30, 2025 at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel with Freddie Hall officiating. 

Burial will follow in the Holbrook Cemetery at Mayking.

Aleece Hall Jones

Aleece Hall Jones, age 90, passed away on Saturday August 23, 2025, at her residence. 

She is survived by her children: Nancy Carter of Gilmer, Texas and Amy Kincer of Jenkins; son-in-law Richard Corbett of Jenkins Kentucky; and “adopted” daughter Ruth Bentley of Hazard. Grandchildren: Joshua Carter, Jessamyn Carter, Mark Carter, Kara Neri, Lawrence Jacob Maggard, Katelyn Maggard, Matthew Corbett, Sarah Corbett, Gregory Kincer, Karlee Hawkins, Sharaye Whitaker, Beverly Cook, and Hadley Bentley along with 16 great grandchildren.

A celebration of life for Aleece Hall Jones held will be held from 1:00-4:00pm this afternoon, Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Letcher Funeral Home. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Aleece’s honor to the LKLP Head Start.

Van O’Neal Webb Sr., age 88, of Ermine, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2025, at his residence. 

He is survived by 2 sons: Van O’Neal Webb Jr. of Ermine and Jimmy Bert Webb of Florence, Alabama; 1 daughter: Pam Pratt of Ermine; 7 grandchildren: Heather, Josh, Cory, Jason, Monica, Ray, and Taneisha; 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Visitation will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm this evening, Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel. 

Funeral Services for Van O’Neal Webb Sr. will be held at 1:00pm on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at the Peoples Fundamental Baptist Church at Jenkins. 

Burial will follow in the Adams Cemetery at Ermine. 

In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to the Peoples Fundamental Baptist Church.

Melissa Coots Holbrook, age 61, passed away on Thursday August 28, 2025 at the Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard. 

She is survived by her children, Jessica Foutch of Cumberland and Chester O’Neal Holbrook of Lynch; five grandchildren, Nicholas, Sajen, Colton, Klaya, and Mason and a daughter: Mallie Ann Roark of Ohio. 

Visitation will be after 5:00pm on Monday, September 1, 2025 at the Rogers Branch Church of Christ at Viper.

Funeral Services for Melissa Coots Holbrook will be held at 1:00pm on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at the Rogers Branch Church of Christ at Viper.

Burial will follow in the Family Cemetery at Cumberland.

Juanita Cornett, age 71, of Hazard, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at The Good Samaritan Bluegrass Hospice Care in Lexington.

She is survived by Two Daughters: Mazzie Justice of Allen & Kayla Akemon of Cornettsville; One Step Son: Scottie Foster of Hazard; Two Sisters: Ethel Asher of Linefork & Bonnie Lou Mize of Slemp; Four Brothers: Donnie Trent of Knott County, Jackie Trent of Cornettsville, Carl Trent of Cornettsville & Earl Trent of Cornettsville along with Eight Grandchildren.

Funeral services for Juanita Cornett will be held at 1:00pm this afternoon, Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church at Cornettsville with Kenny Salmons & Jared Salmons officiating. 

Burial will follow in the Halcomb-Couch Cemetery at Leatherwood.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made towards the funeral expenses.
