Wanda Faye Begley

Wanda Faye Begley, age 75, of Campbranch, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2024 at the Whitesburg ARH. 

She is survived by her husband: Ray Begley; 3 children: Melissa Ann McFall of Whitesburg, Vince Edward Begley of Mayking and Crystal Gale McFall of Campbranch; 1 brother: Jack Watts of Hazard; 3 sisters: Ida Johnson, Aretha Profitt and Shelvia Russell all of Hazard; 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and 1 great grandchild on the way. 

Funeral services for Wanda Faye Begley will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at the Campbranch Pentecostal Holiness Church with Steven Ratliff and Ray Begley officiating. 

Visitation will be after 6:00pm Monday at the Campbranch Pentecostal Holiness Church. 

Burial will follow in the Family Cemetery at Campbranch.

Betty Lou Belcher Bates

Betty Lou Belcher Bates, age 82, of Whitesburg, passed away on February 22, 2024 at the Hazard ARH.

She is survived by 2 sisters: Linda Begley and Geraldine Hatton both of Colson and 2 brothers: Michael “Moe” Quillen and Bruce Quillen of Arlington Heights, Illinois; Children: Sheila “Sally” Bates of Whitesburg, Pamela Sue Mays of Prestonsburg, John Charles Bates of Appalachia, Virginia and David Alan Bates of Lexington; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; her Godparents: Bruce and Rebecca Oliver and her stepson Lewis Beckham “LB” Bates.  

Funeral services for Betty Lou Belcher Bates will be held at 11:00am this morning, Sunday, February 25, 2024 at the Letcher Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesburg. 

Burial will follow in the Bates Cemetery at Colson.

Charles Michael West

Charles Michael West, age 41 of Mayking, passed away Friday, February 23, 2024 at the Whitesburg ARH. 

He is survived by his parents: Charles Letcher and Arlena Marie McCall West; 1 sister: Brianna Fleming of Neon; a nephew: Clay Fleming of Neon and a niece: Gabriella Fleming of Neon. 

A Celebration of Life for Charles Michael West will be held at 6:00pm Monday at the Mayking Baptist Church with Tim Moushon and others officiating. 

Visitation will be from 2:00-9:00pm Monday at the Mayking Baptist Church.

Shelby Jean Sandlin 

Shelby Jean Sandlin, age 85, of Cowan, passed away on Friday February 23, 2024 at the residence.

She is survived by 2 daughters Cathy Stanley of Radcliff and Delana Maggard of Cowan; 1 son: Roosevelt Junior Sandlin of Morristown, TN; 2 sisters: Annalean Maggard of Whitesburg and Rosealee Earl of Indiana; 2 brothers; Kayru Miles of Cowan and Riley Junior Miles of Cowan; 6 grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren. 

Visitation will be from 11:00am to 1:00pm Monday, February 26, 2024 at the Everidge Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesburg.

Funeral services for Shelby Jean Sandlin will follow at 1:00pm Monday at the Everidge Funeral Home Chapel.  

Burial will follow in the Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine.

Charles J. Day

Charles J. Day, age 84, of Whitco, passed away on Thursday February 22, 2024 at his residence.

He is survived by his wife: Shirley Day of Whitco; 2 daughters: Alicia Gail Cook of Colson and Laura Anne Whitaker of Jenkins; 1 son: Charles Elbert Day of Whitco; 1 brother: Floyd Ralph Day of Charlestown, IN; 6 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Charles J. Day will be held at 1:00pm this afternoon, Sunday, February 25, 2024 at the Everidge Funeral Home Chapel with Lester Boggs officiating.

Burial will follow in the Elbert Day Cemetery on Cowan.
