Louise Sturgill Boggs

Louise Sturgill Boggs, age 69, of Eolia, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024, at the Whitesburg ARH. 

She is survived by her husband: Paul Boggs; 1 son: Denver Maggard; 3 daughters: Jessica Maggard, Christy Morton, and Paula Adams; 5 brothers: Ray Sturgill, Harold Sturgill, Raymond Sturgill, Darrell Sturgill, and Jimmy Sturgill; 3 sisters: Linda Short, Jeanette Back, and Norma Adams; 8 grandchildren and special friends: Lori and Dan Fisher.

Funeral services for Louise Sturgill Boggs will be held at 12:00 noon today Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at the Franks Creek Church with John L. Sturgill officiating. 

Burial will follow in the Joel Sturgill Cemetery at Eolia.

The Letcher Funeral Home of Whitesburg is in charge of the arrangements.

Lettie Faye Slone Hall

Lettie Faye Slone Hall, age 81, of Winchester, formerly of Whitesburg, passed away on Friday July 12, 2024.   

She is survived by 1 son: Jeff Hall; 1 brother: Wilson “Jay” Slone; 1 sister: Della “Dixie” Watkins, grandchildren Larry Brock Jr, Brandon Brock, Brittany Brock, Samantha Hall and Matthew Hall along with 5 great grandchildren. 

Funeral services for Lettie Faye Slone Hall will be held at 11:00am this morning, Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at the Hemphill Baptist Church.

Burial will follow in the Beaverdam Cemetery at Colson. 

The family requests that donations be made in lieu of flowers to Alzheimer’s research in her memory.

Barry Bailey, age 61, of McRoberts, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2024, at his residence. 

He is survived by his parents: Donald and Fredis Bailey of Maysville; his wife: Sherry Jean Bailey; one son: Matthew Bailey; one sister: Donna Bailey Hartman and four brothers-in-law; Gary Barnett, James Barnett II, David Barnett and John Barnett.

Visitation will begin at 11:00am on Friday, July 19, 2024 at the Hall & Jones Funeral Home, Jenkins Chapel.

Dr. Mary Katherine Bennett

Dr. Mary Katherine Bennett, age 82, of Linefork, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at the UK Medical Center in Lexington.

She is survived by 2 sisters: Delois Middlebrooks and Mabeline Sizemore; her daughters: Mary Louise, Miranda, Andrea, Carmel, Sharon, Theresa, Joanna, and Elizabeth; and her sons Big Chris, Little Chris, Joey, Howard, Calvin, Justin, BJ, Jonathon, and Aiden. 

Visitation will be held from 10:00am to 12 noon Friday, July 19 2024 at the Linefork Foursquare Gospel Church. 

Funeral services for Dr. Mary Katherine Bennett will follow at 1:00pm Friday at at the Linefork Foursquare Gospel Church with Durant Kreider and John Coleman officiating.

Burial will take place in the Bennett Family Cemetery at Linefork.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Dr. Mary Bennett Foundation.

Maxie P. Webb, age 94, of Jenkins, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024, at her residence. 

She is survived by one son: Keith Webb of Jenkins; three daughters: Trillis Sparks of Jenkins, Crystal Webb of Jenkins and Amber May Myers of Odessa, Missouri; one sister: Nan Scarlett of Cookeville, TN, nine grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 11:00am tomorrow, Thursday, July 18, 2024 at 11:00AM at the Hall & Jones Funeral Home, Jenkins Chapel.

Funeral services for Maxie P. Webb will follow at 1:00pm tomorrow, Thursday, July 18, 2024 at the Hall & Jones Funeral Home, Jenkins Chapel. 

Burial will follow in the Haven Rest Cemetery at Mayking.

Adam Shane “Slim” Slone, age 37, of Leburn, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at his residence.

He is survived by 3 children: Adriana Lexus Slone, Benjamin Tate Slone and Kailor Grey Slone; 3 Sisters – Melissa Williams, Rachel Moore and Chanda Jenny; 2 Brothers: Emmitt Adams and Nathan Day; several nieces and nephews and his Mother: Pamela Grace Slone.

Carolyn Lynn Reynolds, age 54, of Isom, passed from this life on Monday, July 15, 2024, at Greg & Noreen Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard.

She is survived by:

She is survived by her husband: Rufus Fields; 1 daughter: Angela Gilliam of Somerset; 1 son: Joshua Seals of Gordon; 3 brothers: Mark Lewis of Gordon, Randy Lewis of Paris, Kentucky and Jason Lewis of Gordon; 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild along with special nephew, Brandon Lewis.

A Celebration of Life service for Sherry Lynn Fields will be held at 5:00pm Friday, July 19, 2024, with services starting at 6:00pm all at the Cumberland Valley Funeral Home in Cumberland.
