Some local organizations are getting ready to help in the event that the federal
government shutdown leads to the loss of SNAP food benefits.
Hemphill Community Center is hosting a meeting tonight to think through creative ways to help keep our neighbors fed.
They make it clear this is not to be a political debate, just a brainstorming session about getting through it.
The meeting is at 6pm tonight at the Hemphill Community Center.
Meanwhile, CANE Kitchen says they are ready to step up as they did through the pandemic and the floods to have food available for those in need.
They say they are accepting donations if you can help with a link you can find on their social media.
