Man Arrested After Armed Standoff in Pikeville

We’re learning more about an armed standoff that reportedly happened Monday in Pikeville.

Pikeville Police say officers responded looking for Herbert Courtney of Pikeville who had allegedly violated an emergency protective order.

Mountain Top News reports officers were told Courtney had a rifle and a handgun and was threatening to shoot any officers who came to his home on Granite Drive.

He was eventually taken into custody without anyone being hurt.

He is charged with menacing, terroristic threatening, resisting arrest and the original charge of violating an emergency protective order.
