Man Arrested in Letcher County After Stealing Perry County Police Cruiser

A Perry County man arrested in Letcher County after stealing a Perry County Sheriff’s Office cruiser had apparently been handcuffed in the back of the car when he escaped
and took the car.

Kentucky State Police say Christopher Combs was captured by Letcher and Knott County deputies along with KSP troopers Thursday afternoon after a foot chase on Buck Creek with the missing cruiser found on Dusty Road.

According to the Mountain Eagle, the Perry County deputy transporting Combs in the cruiser was in Perry County Park when Combs escaped from his handcuffs and took the car.

Combs is now in the Letcher County Jail facing several charges including drug trafficking,
evading police, wanton endangerment, persistent felony offender, and menacing.
