The Mountain Water District is reportedly looking to raise rates for some users in
Letcher, Pike and other counties.
MWD has filed an application with the Kentucky Public Service Commission, asking to raise rates by about 22% for residential customers and between 25% and 35% for commercial customers.
Mountain Top News reports they also want to enact a 13.5% hike on the wholesale rate charged to Elkhorn City and Jenkins. The Public Service Commission is now reviewing the application.
