A new park being proposed for Hazard would be named for a longtime advocate for
housing development.
The Hazard Herald reports the Hazard City Commission has voted to name the proposed city park in the Gurney’s Bend neighborhood after Housing Development Alliance employee John Rudd.
Mayor Donald “Happy” Mobelini says Gurney’s Bend is where the HDA built 12 homes and the late Rudd was instrumental in moving it forward.
Mobellini says the HDA will build the park but the city will maintain it.
