A former Whitesburg Middle School teacher remains in jail on $250,000 bond following his indictment by a Letcher County Grand Jury for third-degree rape of a girl under 16 and having sexually explicit images of her. The Mountain Eagle reports Brian Bailey, known as Wes, lives in Harlan County and was teaching and driving a bus for Letcher County Public Schools last fall when the alleged incidents occurred from October to November. Letcher County Sheriff Mickey Stines says the incidents were reported to the School Resource Officer last fall and the information was turned over to Kentucky State Police. If Bailey is able to post bond he will have to stay under home confinement with no access to the internet, no computer, no cell phone, and no contact with minors.
