New Variant of Covid Making Comeback in Letcher County

Covid is making a comeback in Letcher County about a month ahead of schedule for most respiratory illnesses.

KP2 is the name of the new variant, and it seems to be milder than some that have come before.

And some may have already built up immunity from the past vaccine or by previously having COVID.

Infectious disease specialist Dr. Fares Khater says people are experiencing the usual symptoms, fatigue, headache, body ache, sore throat.

Some have shortness of breath, cough, and nausea.

More patients have been in the hospital. Once again, social distancing and use of masks is being advised.
