A Letcher County man investigators say owned a large cockfighting pit in Isom has
been sentenced to eight months on home detention.
Robert Dwayne Baker pleaded guilty to felony conspiracy to commit animal fighting as part of a ring at the so-called Whitesburg Chicken Pit that was busted up in a raid in 2022.
The Lexington Herald Leader reports last week Baker was sentenced to eight month’s home detention.
He also has to pay around $85,000 to the government. Five other people have been
charged in connection with operating the fights.
