Pennington Gap community meeting to be held on March 31 to discuss future of Cas Walker site

On March 31, Appalachian Voices will host a meeting at the Pennington Gap Community Center to discuss the future of the former Cas Walker grocery store site. Last year. Pennington Gap received a grant from the Green & Healthy Homes Initiative’s Thriving Communities Program to support planning efforts to transform the site into a recreational green space that will also help mitigate flooding.

As Pennington Gap moves into the design and planning phase of this project, community input into what this recreational space should include is vital. This meeting is meant to dive deeper into possibilities than previous discussions and ensure the plans reflect community needs and creativity.

The meeting will be held at the Pennington Gap Community Center from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Food will be provided and participants will receive a $25 stipend for attending.

Those interested in attending can RSVP here.
