Perry County Man Sentenced in Shooting Death of Two-Year-Old Daughter

It’s 20 years in prison for a Perry County man who pleaded guilty by reason of insanity
for the shooting death of his child in 2020.

David N. Hampton was arrested right after the incident in which investigators said he fatally shot his two-year-old daughter and shot his 12-year-old son in the neck.

The son survived.

As part of a plea deal, which was negotiated along with the family, Hampton was sentenced to 10 years for first-degree manslaughter and 10 years for second-degree assault.

The judge ordered that he must serve 85 percent of the sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
