The Perry County Sheriff’s Office has gotten a grant from Walmart for some new electronic gear. Sheriff Joe Engle says in a Facebook post the Local Community Grant from the Hazard Walmart was for $1,600 which was used to help buy computers and equipment to upgrade the patrol deputies’ technology in the field. He says the ability to scan, email, and transmit court documents is crucial in rural areas in order to obtain warrants, complete electronic citations, and prepare or receive emergency protective orders while out in the field. Sheriff Engle thanks WalMart managers Jason Higgins and Melissa Daugherty and all their associates for making the grant possible.
