A fire that destroyed the Greasy Creek Community Center on July 4 may have been set on purpose.
Greasy Creek Volunteer Fire Department Chief Robert Kendrick tells the Appalachian News Express when firefighters arrived around 4:30 am the fire was already so hot it was hard to get to and has been deemed a total loss.
He says the fire is considered suspicious with an investigation ongoing, and one person as interviewed, but so far one has been arrested.
Pike County Judge-Executive Ray S. Jones says they are working with their insurance company to determine any payout and they plan to rebuild it as soon as they can.
