In an effort to keep more citizens safe in case of disaster, Pike County has been giving out free weather radios this week. Mountain Top News reports the county got a hazard mitigation grant to give out 5,000 radios for those who live in areas that historically flood or have unreliable cell phone service. On Thursday they will have them from 11am to 2pm at the Elkhorn City Senior Center. These radios will come preset to the areas where residents live to receive the proper forecasts, watches and warnings.
