There’s been a change in the race for Pike County Judge-Executive.
Former Pike County Schools Superintendent Reed Adkins had been running to replace Ray Jones who was not seeking another term.
But Mountain Top News reports Adkins has dropped out of the race after being hired as executive director of local economic development agency SOAR.
Following that news, Pike County Jailer Brian Morris apparently dropped out of his race for re-election and has filed to run for Judge-Executive.
And the race may not yet be full – the deadline to file to run in 2026 is January 9.
