A Pike County man is facing charges for allegedly stealing from the home of someone who had passed away.
Mountain Top News reports Nicholas Pruitt of Phelps is charged with breaking into a home on Route 194 and allegedly taking several items including a shotgun.
He was seen by a state trooper but was able to run away.
They reportedly found him the next day at a home on Abe’s Branch and arrested him for second-degree burglary, criminal mischief, and fleeing police.
He allegedly told police he knew the person who had passed away and had previously taken some clothing and other items.
