A Stopover man has been charged with allegedly setting a home on fire while people were inside and not letting them out.
Marty Eugene Hurley was arrested last week for the incident that apparently happened in May at a home in Phelps.
According to court documents reviewed by WYMT, on May 30, Hurley allegedly held several people at gunpoint with an automatic rifle, forced them inside and set several fires and reportedly fired several shots to keep them on the floor before barricading the door and leaving.
All escaped with minor burns and smoke inhalation injuries.
Hurley is now in the Pike County Detention Center charged with arson, kidnapping, and attempted murder.
