A Pike County man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for a drunken UTV crash that led to the death of a Matewan woman.
Prosecutors claimed in May 2023 Conard L. Fields III of Ransom was under the influence while driving a Polaris UTV in McCarr when it rolled over, killing passenger Shelley Prater.
The Appalachian News Express reports he was originally charged with vehicular homicide DUI but that was amended to second-degree manslaughter and misdemeanor first-offense DUI.
