A Pikeville man has been arrested for allegedly fleeing the scene of a fatal crash two
years ago in West Virginia.
John P. Charles has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing death by officials in Mingo County for the June 2023 accident in Edgarton.
The Appalachian News Express reports investigators allege Charles’ SUV hit a moped and then left the scene before police arrived.
Some witnesses reportedly stopped to help the moped driver but he died from his injuries about a week later.
The witnesses were reportedly able to identify Charles as the SUV driver.
He is being held at the Southwestern Regional Jail on a $10,000 bond.
