Pikeville Police Chief Retires

Pikeville Police Chief Michael Riddle has retired after 21 years with the department.

Riddle began as a patrol officer then worked his way through the ranks to sergeant lieutenant, captain and then chief in 2021.

He tells the Appalachian News Express it has been an honor of working with some of the best men and women in law enforcement.

Pikeville Commissioner of Public Safety and former Police Chief Phillip Reed will assume the duties of chief for now until a decision is made on a new chief.
