We’re learning more about some planned upgrades to Jenkins City Hall.
At the last city council meeting, Mayor Todd Depriest reportedly said he’d met with two construction companies interested in bidding on the work to upgrade the elevators and bathrooms and install automatic front doors which will bring the building into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The Mountain Eagle reports Depriest said he felt good about the contractors and their experience.
The mayor also said though that the city did not get a grant they’d hoped for to get a generator to supply power to City Hall and the fire station but they plan to apply again next year.
They are currently working on installing a generator at the water plant and sewer treatment plant.
