Police are searching for a Whitesburg man connected with the theft of a van from a
Knott County church.
Kentucky State Police say the van was stolen from Smithsboro Baptist Church last Thursday.
Troopers say they spotted it at a gas station in Colson and allege the man driving it, Cecil Shell, sped off when he saw them.
WYMT reports troopers found the van abandoned in a creek after it had been in a crash.
A warrant was issued for Shell for receiving stolen property, criminal mischief, and evading police.
