An arrest has been made in connection with a Saturday night shooting death in Perry County. The Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called around 11pm for the shooting that happened along KY-550 near the Knott-Perry County line. The Perry County Coroner identified the victim as Samuel Joseph Smith of Dwarf/Fisty. This afternoon Sheriff Joe Engle confirmed to WYMT that suspect Johnathan Proffitt was arrested in Letcher County. Officials had initially said they were looking for two suspects. They have not yet said whether they are still looking for anyone else.

A search is on for two suspects wanted in connection with a Saturday night shooting death in Perry County. The Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called around 11pm for the shooting that happened along KY-550 near the Knott-Perry County line. The Perry County Coroner tells WYMT the victim has been identified as Samuel Joseph Smith of Dwarf/Fisty. The two male suspects are said to have been on a blue ATV that took off into Knott County. Anyone with information is asked to call the Perry County Sheriff.
