Prestonsburg Dentist Accused in Amber Spradlin Case Released On Bond

A Prestonsburg dentist accused of helping cover up the murder of Amber Spradlin, allegedly committed by his son, has been released on bond. Dr. Michael McKinney was arrested Tuesday and charged with seven counts of complicity to tampering with physical evidence.

Court records show he was released from the Floyd County Detention Center Thursday on a $250,000 cash bond but, per the judge’s order at his arraignment Wednesday, he will have to stay confined to his home.

His son, Michael Kent McKinney, known as MK, is charged with Spradlin’s June 2023 murder, as well as tampering with evidence, and remains in jail on a $5 million cash bond.

A third man, Josh Mullins, faces the complicity to tampering charges and has a $100,000 cash bond.
