There’s another public hearing tonight to give your input on Kentucky Power’s proposal to increase energy rates by more than 18% next year. The Kentucky Public Service Commission has been holding the hearings to know how it would impact your family. Today’s hearing is from 5-8pm at the Pike County Courthouse. The Hazard Herald reports at a November 9 hearing in Hazard many residents spoke about dealing with financial hardships from the July 2022 flood. And the executive director of the Housing Development Alliance told the PSC that low-income households often incur the highest energy costs due to the conditions of their homes and heating and cooling systems.
