A settlement conference has been set in the lawsuit brought against former Letcher County Sheriff Mickey Stines by two women who were sexually assaulted by former Letcher County Deputy Ben Fields.
Fields is currently serving a seven-year prison sentence on multiple charges related to coercing women who were subjected to home monitoring devices into having sex instead of having to pay for the monitors and sometimes turning them off.
The lawsuit accuses Stines of “deliberate indifference in failing to adequately train and supervise” Fields.
The Mountain Eagle reports earlier this week, the judge in the lawsuit set a settlement conference for February.
