There’s been a settlement in a lawsuit against a former Letcher County deputy who spent time in jail for sexual assault charges involving coersion of women he was supervising while they were on home confinement.
Ben Fields served six months after pleading guilty to third-degree rape, tampering with a prisoner monitoring device and perjury.
He was also being sued by one of the women with the case set to start Tuesday but Mountain Top News reports as the jury was being seated, the two sides announced they had reached a settlement.
Details of the settlement have not yet been released.
