It’s a green light for a $1 billion solar array on a former coal mine that will straddle three
counties.
WYMT reports the Kentucky Public Service Commission’s Electric Generation and Transmission Siting Board has said yes to renewable power company BrightNight
to build an array on the former Starfire Mine bordering Breathitt, Perry and Knott
counties.
BrightNight says the construction will create 250 new, direct jobs that would
generate more than $16 million in wages and benefits.
Work on Phase One of Four will start early next year. It’s set to take about a year.
