The Southern Water and Sewer District is once again asking for a rate increase for Floyd County.
In September the Kentucky Public Service Commission said no to a request from Southern for a 28% increase with the PSC saying Southern used 2022 data in its application instead of 2023.
Mountain Top News reports this time around, Southern has the right data and is asking for a lower increase of around 15%.
But they are also reportedly asking for what they call a “water loss reduction surcharge” of about $7 a month so it would still raise the average customer bill to nearly $75 a month, nearly the same as with the 28% request.
The PSC is currently reviewing the application.
