Special Audit of Elkhorn City Finances Leads to Several Issues Being Found

A special audit of Elkhorn City’s finances, ordered after major shortfalls and missed payments were discovered earlier this year, has reportedly turned up several problems. WYMT reports the examination done by the Kentucky Auditor found a failure to pay employer contributions totaling $116,555 to the Kentucky Public Pension Authority for City employees, some City employees’ paychecks bouncing on several occasions, nearly $18,000 in impermissible Christmas bonuses to employees, missing support documents for expenses, and more. An attorney for Elkhorn City says they are committed to adopting a plan of action and coming into compliance.
