State and Federal Officials Approve Plans for New Letcher County Airport

A new Letcher County Airport looks to be cleared for takeoff. Pine Mountain Partnership
Executive Director Jeffrey Justice, who is on the airport board, tells WYMT that state
and federal officials have approved plans for the new airport which will be located in
Isom. He says they hope to have the airport built within the next five years. The
Kentucky Department of Aviation and FAA Memphis Airports District have been working
with local officials on putting together a plan for how it will be funded.
