State of Emergency Declared for Water Line Break in Harlan County

A water line break has part of Harlan County in a state of emergency.

Areas including Coldiron and Wallins Creek are without water until further office due to what officials call a significant line break along Kentucky 3152 which is reportedly leaking about 8,000 gallons an hour.

The Judge-Executive tells WYMT he has asked water district personnel from other areas to help the Black Mountain Utility District locate the actual source of the leak which started four days ago and has not yet been found.

The Harlan County Fiscal Court has brought in truckloads of bottled water and is asking the state for more.
