State SAFE Fund Releases More Flood Relief Money

Letcher County is getting another $5 million toward flood relief from the Eastern Kentucky State Aid for Emergencies or SAFE Fund.

On Thursday Governor Andy Beshear announced a total of $23 million going into Eastern Kentucky to continue rebuilding from the July 2022 flood.

The SAFE Fund was established after the flood to help fix damaged infrastructure and build new higher ground homes.

In addition to Letcher County’s $5.4 million, the city of Fleming-Neon will get $350,000. Floyd County is getting $2.5 million, Perry County is getting $5 million, and the city of Hindman in
Knott County will get $750,000.
