The possibility of Hazard Community and Technical College becoming a four-year university is now the subject of a state senate joint resolution. HCTC President Dr. Jennifer Lindon tells WYMT if the senate’s research bears out and it happens, it would take about two years to transform the school. She says 100 and 200 level courses would stay at the community college rate but 300 and 400 level courses would be at a higher rate. And she says the four-year degree options would be in line with what the region needs, such as Education, Nursing, Criminal Justice, Business and Technology.
