Three Eastern Kentucky Schools have been named as state finalists for the 15th annual Samsung Solve for Tomorrow STEM Competition.
The national competition encourages creativity and problem solving for students in grades 6-12. Mountain Top News reports there are six total schools in Kentucky that made the finals including Belfry Middle School in Pike County, Adams Middle School in Prestonsburg, and the Floyd County School of Innovation in Martin.
The competition asks the students to submit ideas that define a community problem and propose a STEM-based solution.
State winners get a Samsung Video Kit to create a pitch video, along with $12,000 worth of products.
