On Saturday, three of the mountains best, Larry “Cotton” Adams, Ida Bowen, and Todd Tackett, were inducted into the 2024 class of the Dawahares/KHSAA Hall of Fame.
Cotton Adams was a part of Corbin football for more than three decades as a head coach, assistant coach and player. He appeared in six state championships.
Ida Bowen played for Sheldon Clark HS and totaled more than 2,700 points and 300 rebounds over her career. She was named Kentucky Miss Basketball during the 1990-91 season.
Bowen went on to play four years at Western Kentucky University, where she helped guide the Lady Toppers to an NCAA Division I national runner-up finish as a freshman.
Todd Tackett is a 1998 graduate of Paintsville. He helped lead Paintsville to the school’s first-ever state title as a sophomore.
