Two HCTC Students Advance To National SkillsUSA Competition

Two Hazard Community and Technical College students have gone to this year’s National Leadership and Skills Conference put on by SkillsUSA.

HCTC says James Hall and Michael Salvador attended the conference last month in Atlanta.

They had both won first place at the state conference in their own categories of electrical construction and welding which sent them on to the National Conference to meet and compete with about 100 other students.

HCTC’s Dean of Advanced and Professional Technologies said the opportunity to compete at the national level was significant because it shows the skills they’re learning in Hazard are on par with what students are doing nationwide.
