West Virginia AG Files New Lawsuit Against 3M Concerning Coal Mine Dust Masks

West Virginia’s Attorney General has filed a new lawsuit, joining several others, against the 3M Company for the marketing of a certain respirator mask to coal miners.

Court documents show the suit goes against the company for advertising its 8210 disposable respirators to coal miners in West Virginia and naming coal as a recommended industry for its use.

The lawsuit claims that internal correspondence shows 3M knew a similar mask, the 8710, was not effective in high heat and humidity and had fit defects.
