The Whitesburg Police Department’s K-9 Sully is receiving a special donation of protective body armor.
Officials say Sully will be fitted with a bullet- and stab-protective vest thanks to a charitable contribution from the non-profit group Vested Interest in K9s, Inc..
The vest will be embroidered with the words, “In memory of Officer Pradeep Tamang.”
The department expects the vest to arrive within the next ten weeks.
Since its founding, Vested Interest in K9s has provided more than 6,300 protective vests — valued at nearly 6.9 million dollars — to K-9 units in all 50 states.
