Grant Allows Perry County to Improve Emergency Communication

Perry County has upped its emergency communication capabilities thanks to a grant and a new mutual aid agreement. Perry County Judge-Executive Scott Alexander tells WYMT the grant enabled them to buy some new radios to use the multiple frequencies used by fire, police, 911 and EMS around the state. He says while he felt they had good emergency response during the July 2022 flood, they were looking for ways to make it better and lower the response times to get to people in need. He says with the new radios and mutual aid agreements, disaster interaction can be more efficient.
