A five-year prison sentence has been handed down for a former Pike County assistant county attorney who made a plea deal for evidence tampering in connection with the
death of his wife in 2021.
Donald Deskins was sentenced Thursday following a plea deal that saw prosecutors drop a murder charge in the death of Judith Deskins.
A previous trial on the charges ended in a hung jury.
Deskins made an Alford plea, agreeing there is enough evidence to be convicted of the evidence tampering but without admitting guilt.
His defense had asked for just probation since he’d been in jail since his arrest in 2023 but the judge ruled the five-year agreement would stand.
